Fire is a wee chihuahua mix – weighing only 4.6 lbs. However, she doesn’t let her size hinder her activities. She is a very easy keeper, only requires regular hugs and snuggle time, but is more than content to nap the day away snuggled in her bed. She loves loves loves getting treats and sits on command and ‘sits pretty’ to earn her reward. Fire is also very tolerant and amiable, she’ll let you lie her on her back, resting between your knees (especially for a tummy rub!). She rarely barks – but will let a few out when someone knocks on the door, or when you leave her and shut the door (or door to her crate) but she’ll quiet down right away. She is very much house trained, but sometimes if its been a while since she’s had a chance to go outside, and she gets excited… a few dribbles come out.

Spirit – Adopted
April 16, 2010 at 7:46 pm (Dogs For Adoption)
Spirit is a beautiful Standard American Eskimo. About 3 yrs old. She has had a difficult life but is still amazingly laid back. She has 2 old fractures on both legs on the left hand side, we are having her looked at, to ensure the fractures can be left alone. She will have xrays done and we will be discussing these with the specialists at Canada West. Spirit loves to hang out with us in the yard, and just lie there soaking up what sun we have been getting. However, if you do have a yard, it must be fully fenced without escape routes. She walks great on leash. And is pretty darned good so far with her house breaking manners.
She is great with other dogs. But does have the dominant side to her, making sure all know she is top dog (well she is the biggest one here too lol).
Spirit is an old wise soul it seems. We have not tested her around small children, so would prefer her to have a family with teens. A cat free home would also be preferred.
Please remember that the American Eskimo have thick fur that require regular brushing and grooming to prevent horrible mats. Also be prepared for some shedding along with that magnificent coat.
Spirit’s adoption fee is $395. She is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed and flea treated.
An adoption fee and home visit apply as usual. Please contact us at adoptionsdmrs@yahoo.ca for an application.
Snowshoe and her babies
April 3, 2010 at 4:53 pm (Dogs For Adoption)
Snowshoe has been living on a reservation in Northern BC for the better part of her life until now. She has had plenty of puppies, her teets hang so low they almost touch the ground. I am pleased to say that an agreement and understanding has been made. That this time, Snowshoe had to be surrendered as well as all her puppies. To save her from a life of constant procreation. So she can move on and find a forever home where she can live inside with her future humans.
MOMMA SNOWSHOE AND BABY MURACO
Delsin – He Is So (adopted) Dyani – Deer (adopted)
Enola – Solitary (adopted) Ituha – White Stone (adopted)
Muraco – White Moon (female)- adopted
7 puppies have come with momma Snowshoe, 5 are hers (approx 10 weeks old), and 2 are not, but they came too. We have given them all traditional names, and once they are vetted, they will be ready to go to their forever homes. Snowshoe will have to stay in rescue or foster until she stops lactating, and her teets are empty. This could take a number of weeks, and I am sure she would love a foster home in the meantime. If anyone out there is interested in fostering her until she is ready to get her spay, please contact us at fosterdmrs@yahoo.ca
Please keep in mind that we have no idea what kind of breeds these dogs are, all we can guess is that momma is a Bichon type mix of some sort. Your guess is as good as ours. The other 2 pups that came along are also mysterious mixes.
From left to right: Enola (female) Dyani (female) Muraco (female) Ituha (female) and Delsin (male)

An adoption application and home visit is required as usual.
