Meeka is about 2 years old.  We think she may be a mix of Chihuahua, JRT, with a hint of Wiener Dog.  She is a very sweet, loving dog, that is fairly timid with people, and also a little needy once shown love.  She is very obedient, listens well and is very willing to please.  She is house broken, crate trained and is great with other dogs and cats too.  She would likey be just fine with children too, as long as they weren’t too noisy, and treated her respectfully and gently.

Meeka’s adoption donation is $395.  She has been spayed, wormed, microchipped, and flea treated.  An adoption application and home visit is required as usual.  You can email us for an application or download one from the Adoption Process page of this blog.

Mini Mudd – ADOPTED

We have no idea what Mini Mudd’s Mix is, if we had to guess we would say Chihuahua x Boston with a hint of Pom. He reminds us of MUDD who was adopted in 2009…but he is so much smaller.  He weighs in at about 8 lbs right now, and is approximately 11 months old.  He is a playful, friendly little guy.  He gets along with other dogs of all sizes.

Mini Mudd is so friendly that he would likely get along with children, we can always book home visits to see if he gets on with the kids in your family.  He is also OK with cats, but may want to play with them a little too much.

Mini MuddThis photo is deceiving, if I had a side view, you could see that Mini Mudd has quite the underbite, like a Boston Terrier.

He is still working on his house training, and needs someone who is very consistent so he can learn quickly. He is crate trained, and is quiet as a mouse at bedtime.  When you baby talk him he actually smiles – showing all of his teeth – so cute.

Mudd is neutered, vaccinated, chipped, wormed and flea treated.  His adoption donation is $395.  An adoption application and home visit is required.

Please email us at to request an application to be emailed or you can find one on our Adoption Process Page right here on this Blog.

Bandito – ADOPTED

Bandit is a chihuahua cross, about 2 years old. He is a high energy, wonderfully playful little dude.  He is house trained, but needs a routine.  He is comfortable in a crate to sleep.  He is a quick learner with praise reinforcement and loves to work for treats.

He came to us not knowing much and learned the sit and down command very quickly in foster care and is now working on consistent recall and the stay command.  He gets attached quickly to his person and loves to be around them.  As a result, he can be prone to getting separation anxiety if he is overly coddled and spoiled, so his new forever home will have to be diligent with themselves to provide an equal balance of love, obedience, and consistency.

Given this he has been great in foster care.  He loves all people including children however we prefer no small children as sometimes he gets overly excited and can be a little mouthy.  He is good around other dogs and loves having a playmate in foster care.  He would be ideal for someone who has another upbeat dog looking for a fun playmate.

Bandit’s adoption donation is $395.  He has been neutered, vaccinated, chipped, wormed and flea treated. An adoption application and home visit is required as usual.  You can email us for an adoption application at or you can go the the Adoption Process Page right here on this blog and download an application.

Salty – Adopted

Salty is about 6 years old.  He is a Pomeranian Terrier we think, that is what he looks like.  He is a very sweet little dude, and he loves his people.  He can get very needy and clingy.  So much so that he will walk between your legs and stick right with you, which could pose a walking problem.

He is good with other dogs, needs to be trained not to mark in the house – but he learns very quickly once he is told that is not acceptable.  He seems to be fine with cats as well.  Salty would be fine with older children, we have not tested him with small children.

Salty will be ready for his new forever home shortly after he is vetted.  He will be neutered, vaccinated, chipped, wormed and flea treated.  His adoption donation is $395.00.

An adoption application and home visit is required.  You can email us at to request one to be sent to you or you can find one right here on the blog in the Adoption Process Page.

Pixie was used as a breeding bitch her whole life…7 years, and then was ditched.  It is obvious that she has probably been bred fairly recently as her teets are so large and almost touch the ground. We are so glad that someone decided that she would get the best care and find the best home through rescue.

Pixie is non reactive with other dogs, walks great off leash, comes when called (most of the time) and is fairly laid back.  She is great with kids too.  However she is food aggressive when another dog comes near her food bowl or bone.  This is common with dogs that have lived in puppy mill and back yard breeder situations.  Pixie is 70lbs and a little underweight right now.  She is a taller bulldog – not as short and stocky as most bulldogs.

Pixie is also great with cats…doesn’t really care about them.  She does get really excited when she hasn’t seen you for a few hours. and whines and cries with happiness.  She does try to jump up on you, and succeeds most of the time.  She is pretty much house trained, but water intake needs to be monitored as she will drink a whole bowl at one time, which her bladder does not appreciate.

Pixie’s bloodwork came back normal, she has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed and flea treated.

Pixie’s adoption fee is $395.  An adoption application and home visit is required.

Richie is ADOPTED for REAL!

Richie Rich is the sweetest Chihuahua you’ll meet.  I have known him only for a short time as his foster mom, but he melted my heart the first day I met him and would have adopted him if my circumstances were different. It will break my heart to see him go, but will make me happy to know he will be going to a loving forever home.

Richie’s most favorite thing to do is play with his toys. He absolutely loves to play tug a war and fetch. As soon as you grab a toy his eyes light up and his tail starts to wag a mile a minute! His second most favorite thing is a belly rub. He will stretch right out while you scratch his belly and his expressive eyes will close halfway in the enjoyment of it.

He is very good walking on a leash, but every so often he will stop, look at you and not move. I find this happens when his leash is not quite right and he is bothered by it. But not too worry, a little bit of patience and he starts moving again. Richie is a little unsure around new people and kids and may give a warning growl, but he is such a good listener and all it takes is a firm no or a very slight tug on the leash and he will stop. Richie is good with most dogs but tends to run up to them and so he needs to learn to approach slowly and greet them properly.

At the end of the day when Richie goes into his bed he likes to cover himself up with a blanket. He needs no help doing this as he has perfected the art of maneuvering his way under it while rotating in circle. The end result is him entirely covered up by his blanket! It is quite amazing that he is able to do this.

Richie is such a sweet dog and he deserves to be in a permanent home with people who will love and cherish him forever. In return he will love you back and make you smile and laugh.

Richie is housebroken, crate trained, neutered, vaccinated, flea treated and wormed.  His adoption donation is $395.  Adoption applications and home visit is required.

Joey – staying at Dhana Metta Forever.

Joey is a 11 year old neutered Border Collie Cross.  He was surrendered to a Fraser Valley vet clinic and landed himself here at Dhana Metta.

Joey and his new packHe has met all the large dogs here, and was non-reactive, except when Taggart decided to do his usual invasive greeting. Joey was very tolerant of Taggart, but courteously told him where to go. Joey is amazing with the small dogs and with the cat….he does however want to chase the bunnies.

Jackson, CLover and JoeyJoey is a nice old dog, mellow while walking on leash.  Knows all his commands – sit, stay, lie down, come and even shake a paw.  Joey’s eye contact with people is stellar. He would love to find a great home to live out the rest of his life with.  He would prefer a home without small children.

Joey has bilateral cruciate tears but is not currently in need of surgery. He visited the Canada West Veterinary Specialists in Vancouver a couple of weeks ago. His cruciate tears are so old, that Joey has learned to manage very well. Clinically he is doing fine, he is not often stiff when getting up, he goes for long walks easily. He should not however go for long runs, hikes, frisbee and ball chasing.

Joey sure could use a foster home until a forever home is found. Joey is best suited to country life, free to go in and out as he pleases. Acreage or large fenced area would be perfect for him. If you can open your heart and home to this awesome senior dog, please email us at

As always we request an adoption/foster application and home visit.

Joey’s adoption fee is by donation. Thank you!

Taggart (also known as Big Al) – ADOPTED

Taggart came from a shelter in the Fraser Valley.  Totally untrained, zero manners.  And grossly overweight. He has already had 2, well I guess you could call it 3 previous homes, before landing himself with us.

In his time with us Taggart has learned many manners, although he is still a high energy, exuberant lab puppy inside.  He looks so much older than his 18 months of age.  He has learned that jumping up on people and knocking them to the ground is unacceptable.  His recall on the 7 acres here is great!  He now goes in his crate on command, where before we had to fight with all our might to get him in there.  He is totally non-aggressive and non-reactive with other dogs, he is not shy to run right up to any dog and beg them to play.  But some dogs don’t dig this invitation.  Taggart absolutely loves people. We have not tested him with cats.

Taggart 4/15/11

Taggart needs a home without small children, he would never hurt them on purpose but he is very excitable, and playful..with his size and strength – he could hurt little people.  He needs a family that will exercise him, and feed him a healthy low fat diet.  He is not a dog who would do well going for only two walks a day.  He needs to walk lots, and lose some weight.  He loves to run, but we don’t encourage him to over run.  His weight is not good for his joints.

Taggert (Big AL)

Taggart has calmed so much since he came to us, he is such a loving dog.  All he wants is to have a forever home to call his own.  To be able to hang out in the house with them, go for long walks, play with his balls and toys and eat healthy low fat foods.

Taggart is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed,  and tattooed.  His adoption fee is $150.00

An adoption application and home visit is required.  We are determined to find Taggart his forever home, once and for all.

Maddy is a female chihuahua about 1.5 years old.  She weighs in at about 7 lbs.  Maddy has been passed around far too much in her short lifetime, which I absolutely hate seeing, and cannot understand.

She is shy, and a little timid.  Quick movements freak her out.  Grabbing at her is a no no – so please no children.  Maddy is smart, she is house trained, and goes in her crate when told.

She is prone to having separation anxiety if coddled to much, so needs a home that provides an equal balance of leadership and love.  Maddy is a doll, super sweet and affectionate.  She is fine with other dogs of all sizes, and is good with cats too.  Sometimes she wants to play with the cats a little too much, and some of our feline friends would probably not appreciate this invitation.

It is time for Maddy’s life to begin, she would love a forever home who will provide stability.  She is spayed, chipped, wormed, flea treated and vaccinated.  Her adoption fee is $350.00  An adoption application and home visit is required.  You can email us at to request an application to be sent via email.  Thank You

Frankie the Pom

Frankie is a senior Pomeranian weighing in at about 9lbs.  He has a super sweet personality, and is very happy go lucky.  He came to us in September of 2010, and has been waiting for someone to fall in love with him and provide him a forever home.  We thank his foster dad Jeffrey for being so patient and providing Frankie a place to be while he waits for his family to come along.

Frankie’s teeth were in horrible condition when he arrived, and has had his full dental and bloodwork prior to that.  His vet bills far exceed his adoption fee of $295.

He is house broken, and good with other dogs too.  We are not sure how he is with cats, but he seems mellow enough to live with them.  He does like to bark for attention, but learning to be quiet is something an old dog can learn.

Frankie is about 8 – 9 years old, he is neutered, UTD on Vaccinations, dewormed and flea treated. His adoption fee is $295.  Adoption application and home visit required.  You can email us at to request an application.
