Lego – Adopted

UPDATE ON LEGO SEPT 14, 2009

Lego has come so far in 7 weeks.  He is awesome!  He plays, runs, tries to jump but that is still something he can’t do.  The ramp for my big old Bubba came in handy, Lego learned all on his own that this ramp was the way in and out of the house.  He uses it all the time and is really good at it!  Thank you to all those who donated to Lego.  He is doing so well now.  We are planning to use the rest of the donations to have his teeth cleaned and have him neutered.  He will be going into his trial forever home this Friday!

UPDATE ON LEGO:

This is Lego just 48 hours after being left in a box.  I put out a plea to ask the people who left Lego behind to contact us, as we needed more info to be able to help him. They responded. They had a party, they got super wasted, one of the guys at the party thought it would be funny to smash Lego against the wall to see what would happen. He died. One of the girls at the party resuscitated him. And the very next day, dropped him off in a box. WTF???

I am proud of little Lego that he has improved so much in a week.  He is happy, less scared, and walking way better as you can see in the video below.  I cry for his suffering, and the image of him being slammed into a wall repeats itself in my head over and over again…make it stop.  I am hoping that he learns not to poop in his crate at night, as he must hate having a bath every morning.  I pray that the swelling goes down and he will function as normally as possible in his future.

We go back to Canada West tomorrow, to see what the next step will be.  Now that we know the truth, will it help his recovery?

We don’t know Lego’s history, he has only been with us since Saturday 25th July 2009.  All we know is that he is around 3 years old, the sweetest little chihuahua you could meet, he follows me around everywhere, even though he is wobbly.  He is very friendly and he likes other dogs too.

I don’t want to leave Lego behind because we haven’t the funds for him.  It has been difficult raising funds for other dogs that have needed our help, and a little discouraging.  When the thought of having to leave Lego out, tears filled my eyes, I can’t do it.  I am after all a avid chihuahua lover as most folks that know me – know me.

To try and get as much as possible for him – We have decided to put a couple of the adoption donations into the Cookie Jar for Lego.  The only way we can raise enough funds for the dogs that really need us, is to do it with adoption fees.  Even asking for $20 from 400 people didn’t pan out.  Our rescue has always run this way – we hardly ever get donations, the adoption fees from healthy highly adoptable pets – help the other special needs, not so adoptable pets.

Donations for Lego’s Care Fund can be made by sending a cheque to our mailing address or to Canada West.  Please make all cheques payable to Canada west Veterinary Specialists.  Or you can call in a donation in at Canada West 604 473 4882.

Lego will be posted on Petfinder, where you can directly sponsor him through his posting.  And if you want to make a deposit into the rescue Vancity account, please email us for that information.

As our usual adoption protocol, LEGO will not be up for adoption until we figure out his issue and get it dealt with.  Again we ask kindly that all inquiries about Lego be sent directly to the Dhana Metta Rescue Society via email dhanametta@yahoo.ca – please DO NOT call Canada West with your inquiries.
