UPDATE ON ANGIE JUNE 5/09

Angie went back into surgery today after a very rough last few days.  Canada West did an exploratory to discover that after her original shunt had been closed off, the portal vein was not large enough to sustain normal blood flow.  This caused multiple new shunts to develop, one that was almost as large as the original shunt.  Unfortunately in this situation, there is nothing we could have done to save Angie.

Today we say goodbye to our little trooper, we were glad to have had her in our lives for as little time as we did.   We enjoyed her strength and her cute little quirks.  Rest in Peace Sweet Angie.

We would like to thank all of those generous pet loving people who donated to try to give this little girl a chance to live out her life.  We would like to thank Jocelyn and Olivia for being the best foster parents Angie could have ever had.  I am sending you both lots of love right now.

We want to thank all the folks that were interested in adopting Angie.  We understand that you were all so desperate to adopt her, however we know that many unforseen circumstances can arise, which is why we waited patiently to see what the future would hold before making any promises.

UPDATE ON ANGIE JUNE 2, 2009

Well Angie had her bile acids tests done to see how her liver was functioning after the surgery, and unfortunately the levels were off the chart.  So another Ultrasound was done, a 6mm shunt could be seen.  We are not sure yet if this is the same shunt that did not close off, or a new shunt that had appeared.  Another surgery may have to be performed.  Angie also battled a bout of pneumonia after her surgery as her immune system was compromised.

Poor Angie…we had hoped for a seemless outcome for her, and 1 out of 200 PSS cases experience these complications, Angie unluckily is that 1 out of 200.

We will be posting more updates a little later after we decide what is going to be done.

UPDATE ON ANGIE. april 30, 2009

Thank you Chelsea fo getting my butt in gear to post another update on Angie!!  She did great after her surgery!  She sure is a trooper.  She has not had one seizure since the shunt was repaired, and is growing again!  She plays like a little maniac and is having a grand old time finally being a healthy normal puppy!

Thank you to Olivia and Jocelyn for fostering her throughout this entire ordeal.  Without you both I am sure Angie would have had a much slower recovery.  You have been so diligent in getting the meds to her on time and keeping her safe and healthy!!  We love you both!

Thanks to all of those who donated to Angie’s surgery, it helped out so much.  We still owe Canada West $700 for Angie’s surgery, and in 5 more weeks she will need another Ultrasound to see how her liver is doing and how things are healing inside, that will cost $300.

So we are still accepting donations for Angie’s cause….Donations can be made directly to Canada West Veterinary Specialists.

And remember all you animal lovers out there – don’t forget about little ELLA.  She is still in desperate need of PDA surgery, she will not live past a year with the heart condition she has right now.  We have only raised $600 so far for her.  And we need to reach $2900.

UPDATE  APRIL 25, 2009

Angie is going in for her PSS surgery this Monday April 27, 2009.  Thank you to all who donated so far, we have in the pot for Angie $2200.   We are hoping that the animal loving community will continue to donate after Angie’s surgery so we can cover the remaining balance of her bill.  We are hoping to raise another $1000 to cover her surgery and her U/S  she needs after surgery.

We will give another update after Angie surgery, and her stay in hospital, next Friday.

Angie is a beautiful 4 month old mini Schnauzer who was diagnosed with a Portosystemic Shunt.  She is in desperate need of the surgery to correct this, so she can live her life to the fullest.  Now the surgery to help her is expensive, but we feel we are going to give this a shot. Angie’s surgery is far more urgently needed than Quasi’s and even Bat’s, we need to raise enough funds for her to have her surgery by the end of April, as Angie needs this surgery sooner than later.

We all got together to raise enough for Quasi, and for Bat….I think if we all work together again, we can and will raise the $3000 needed for Angie’s PSS surgery at Canada West Veterinary Specialists.

We also need a foster home who is willing to care for Angie after her surgery, and then of course in the future, she will be seeking her forever family.
