I am a super sweet, affectionate Chihuahua cross, about 1 1/2 years old.  It is getting chilly here and I am craving cuddles.  I am a bit needy since I had to live on the street for a while.  I would love to be in a home where my human can spend most of their time with me, as I still suffer from separation anxiety.  I am scared that I am gong to fall in love again and then have my heart broken…I hate that feeling.  I have been looking for a home that will love me forever since the beginning of October and am starting to lose hope.  I got really depressed and stopped eating for a while.  I got moved to a private suite in the foster home and started to feel a bit better.

I am about 10 lbs, and have a thin stature.  I love to play and run around.  I am very good with all the other dogs.  I don’t think I would like to be around small children though cause I don’t wanna get hurt… I am ok with cat friends too.

Please take me home…I just want to find love with someone who won’t ditch me again and again.  I would love to love you.

Ok, so she already will sit to get her food. Took me two meals only to get her to. She navigated the 13 step staircase like nothing, they didnt phase her at all (not like the other 3 pups that have been in my house in the last year), she’s learned that if she climbs up the blanket she can get onto the couch(this was IMMEDIATE), and when we went outside she stood and watched the other 2 dogs go pee and was like “OOOOOOH, ok” and went too. She’s only peed in the house once. hmmm…And thank god, she doesn’t mind the rain.

Plus when she started climbing my leg this morning to be picked up and I said “Off.” she got off and sat down….

Today I received some sad news.  Our sweet little B-Boy had passed away in his sleep.  My eyes well up with tears as I write this.  He was always such a happy little soul.  Humans could learn so much from B, despite his challenge, he never ceased to amaze us…always happy.

B-Boy came into our rescue a few years ago.  He was 7 months old.  His owners had finally decided to surrender him, after keeping him from 6 weeks old, paralyzed in the hind legs.  They never did any xrays, or diagnostics.  They just decided to leave him be…and after realizing that it was just too much for them, they ditched him.

When I saw him, I loved him.  He was so happy so sweet.  He would motor around dragging his legs behind him and didn’t have a care in the world.

Michiko and Seigo provided such a wonderful foster home for B.  Michiko thank you for being so kind.  Sean and Serena I send you my love…you were such awesome doggie parents to B-Boy.  You gave him so much and I have to thank you for loving him just the way he was

Please remember that to adopt a dog from Dhana Metta you must first complete an adoption application.  Once your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit with you.  Sometimes the home visits are done by volunteers, so even if your home visit is approved, you still may not be suitable for the specific dog you were interested in.  We try to be sure that we match the right dog to the right family, as a home is forever.

Radar made it safe and sound.  He seems to be quite terrified when he arrived.  He struggled in the bath, and then once he realized that it felt good, he gave in to the affection of humans.  He is very energetic, and sweet.  He listens quite well and seems very willing to please.  He would learn anything you wanted very quickly.  He would prefer a home with no children as fast movements scare Mr. Radar.

It looks as though once upon a time Radar must have caught one of his toes in something and dislocated it as it sticks up compared to his other toes.  It is not painful to him and he gets along like any other dog. Radar’s adoption fee is $395, he will be neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed and flea treated.

Boots is a sweet girl, she is about a year old.  She also was very scared when she arrived.  She is not so good on leash right now cause the world is so scary.  Even when cars drive by she hits the pavement and flattens out.  Boots will need a very patient, loving family, who will not only teach her that the world is an ok place to be in, but who will also train her with gentle correction and positive reinforcement.

Boots gets along well with the other dogs, and does tell them to leave her alone when they get to pestering her.  She is fine with cats and would be good with older respectful children.

We have no idea what mix of breeds she is, so her new family will have to love her just the way she is.  She is very affectionate, and listens well, she also is very willing to please.  Her adoption fee will be $395 and she will be spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea treated.

Crayon is a young Chihuahua about 7lbs but very underweight right now.  He is a confident playful little guy.  He loves to play with the other dogs and would be good with respectful slightly older children.  He is small though so if you do have kids and are interested, we will be very careful in screening and choosing the right home for Crayon, a home with too many kids would overwhelm this little guy.

Crayon will be neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and flea treated.  His adoption fee is $450

Petunia Long Stems is 10 months old – supposedly a Poodle Shihtzu Cross….with really long legs and a slender body.  She is very playful as puppies are, and is still learning her manners.  She walks well on leash, and gets along with other dogs.  She has been in foster care for some time now and has bloomed into a nice young lady.  Finally a better photo of her, thanks Sally!

She is a breed that will also require regular grooming and daily brushings. As her hair does grow longer that seen in these photos.  She is fine with children, but gets really excited if kids around her are excited too!

Petunia Long Stems has just been spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, flea treated and tattooed. Her adoption fee is $395. You can email us at dhanametta@yahoo.ca for an adoption application, home visits are required.

Lexi is a young red heeler x spitz or pom mix.  She is playful, great with other dogs, cats and even with kids. She came to us from a shelter in California and is having a great time at her foster mom’s house.  She is looking for a forever home who will take just as good care of her and give her lots of outdoor playtime too.

Lexi’s adoption fee is $395. She is spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and flea treated.

Bella is a young lab x.  She has a great personality.  Everyone loves her.  She needs exercise and more so, play time.  She just loves to play, play, play.  She is crate trained, and out of the crate she lays quietly for long periods of time.  At night she lays on the carpet the bed only crying when she needs to go out.  Great with people, and other dogs.  Walks nicely on a halti.  She would do better in a home with older children only because of her still very puppy ways.

Bella would love to be in a home with another dog of equal size to play with. Bella is spayed, tattooed, dewormed, vaccinated and flea treated.

Bella’s adoption fee will be $295. An adoption application and home visit are required.

I got to come with all those little dogs to Canada. It was fun. I got here and played in the yard. All my little pals were having fun too.

I am a Staffordshire Terrier cross, I weigh 34 pounds, and about 1.5 years old.

I am short and stocky but BEAUTIFUL!  I love people, dogs, kids too! I haven’t met a cat here yet, so maybe I would like them too.

I love to play. I can be a little mouthy when I get over excited, and haven’t had much of a chance to learn what humans like or don’t like. I tend to jump up also when I get excited to see someone! I love balls, balls are fun.

I am a good girl and am very affectionate. I love to cuddle. I am in a foster home right now so I am sure I will get to learn my manners before I find my forever home, or maybe someone out there will take me home and love me enough to teach me all the ins and outs of being part of a family.
