Mr. Winky -ADOPTED

MR. WINKY

Mr. Winky has been with us since the beginning of April.  He has proven to be a very loving, well trained chihuahua.  It takes him some time to adjust to new people.  But once he gets to know you, he really does fall in love, and will make a great companion.

Mr. Winky needs to be an only child – dog & human alike.  He would love to have someone who will spend time with him, walking, cuddling, and also without too much coddling.  He is an independent personality along with his sweetness.

I am sure that someone out therecan fall madly in love with him like I have.  Unfortunately for Winky, this environment is taking it’s toll on him.  There are always dogs coming in and out, he doesn’t get what he deserves when it comes to attention.  He is starting to get grumpy with the other dogs, cause they pick on him.

We are hoping that someone out there will open their hearts to this wonderful little guy, he is not as happy here as he could be in a home all to himself.

Even if there was a kind soul out there who would be willing to foster Winky until his forever home came along, please contact us.  Winky deserves so much more.

Winky has no adoption fee, we would just like him to go to a home that will love him for who he is.

If you feel like you can give him a chance, please email us for an adoption application.

Winky is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and housebroken too!

My name is Winky.  No one knows how old I am or where I came from.  I wish I could speak English so I could tell you all about my life and what made me who I am.  I landed myself in a local shelter.  It was scary.  I have to admit I behaved very badly, and I wish I could take it all back and apologize to the nice people there.  My foster mom came to get me and I liked her instantly.  She waited till I was ready to go to her and didn’t force me to like her.  She was very patient.

I got to meet her 2 furkids in the parking lot, and they were cool.  I didn’t want to get too friendly though.  You know, gotta keep up that tough chihuahua reputation that I have.  We went for a walk in the park.  It was fun. I got to ride in the back of her truck, in a kennel…cause she didn’t trust me fully, and vice versa.

She took me to her house, and left me in my kennel so all the other foster furkids could sniff me out and say hello.  It was crazy!!  I was so nervous, all I could do was bark, whine and pace in my kennel.   After a couple of hours my foster mommy decided to let me out, everybody was used to me being there now.  She left the leash on me though, so I couldn’t put myself into a bad situation, and also cause she didn’t want to scare me by grabbing me.   So we went out to the yard, and I got to be on video tape to show how well I was behaving.

WinksterAfter about a week I started to feel lonely without human interaction, so I decided to let my guard down and give her a chance.  I went to her and gave her my sad eyes.  She fell for it!!  She reached down and picked me up.  I sat in her lap and we were both cautious.  I loved it, but I didn’t want to get her hopes up.  So I wriggled and made uncomfortable noises, she put me back on the floor.   Finally someone who understands my language!

We have been together for a few months now, and I wonder if there are any other humans like my foster mommy on this planet.  Then Foster Grandma came over!  She was cool too!  I let her pick me up right away, she carried me outside.  My foster mommy was shocked that I had been so good!  She made sure though that Grandma was careful not to let other people pet me while in her arms, cause I get a little protective of those I fall madly in love with.

We went for a drive, and I loved riding in the front seat next to mommy.  I am so good in the car, and she pets my belly for behaving so well.  I am shocked that she can drive and pet me and still be able to read all of my body language.  I am sure there aren’t many people out there that could read me like she can.  But I know that mommy can’t keep me forever, even though I wish she could.

I started getting jealous of the other furkids, especially Shortman.  He is the biggest of the gang.  I think he is the boss too.  But I like testing him and nipping at his heels when he wants mommy’s affection.  He got mad and chased me across the yard.  I was upset so I just kept barking at him….that was stupid!  He came back and told me off again.  And because I am a tough chihuahua, I told him off right back.  Well, that was even more stupid of me.  Shortman was so angry at me that he beat me up.  Nothing serious folks, he didn’t really want to hurt me, just to scare me.

I was scared for awhile, and was crying cause my feelings were hurt, but mommy says I brought it upon myself, and she is right.  I tried to apologize to Shortman, but he wouldn’t have any of it.  I guess I blew it.  I wanted to explain to mommy that Shortman scares me cause he is a lot bigger than me, but I can’t speak English.  I have no problems with all the other furkids cause they are the same size (or smaller LOL).

Winky

Mommy thinks I am ready to find someone just like her, but without any other furkids!  I like all the dogs, and they all like me too, we hang out and play, and I even dig the cat we hang out with.  I don’t wanna be with any children, no matter how old they are – they are too unpredictable and it freaks me out!

If you are just like my foster mommy, I would love to hear from you.  You can contact the nice folks at Dhana Metta Rescue Society at dhanametta@yahoo.ca

They have made an application for you to fill out (man I feel so important!) and they really want to bring me over for a home visit to see if you are really just as awesome as my foster mommy!  I can’t wait for this new adventure in my life to start, but I am a little nervous too.  I really do hope there are other nice people on this planet like mommy.

I am neutered and fully vaccinated.  I don’t have a set adoption fee, but you can donate what you want to the rescue society that saved me.

Mr. Winky likes other dogs. He just has an issue with only Shortman the largest dog here. He is great with puppies – 8 week old ones, he was so gentle and loving, I made a video just for you Janice, still have to send it to you though.

He is really great with all the other dogs – and there are 12 other ones here right now. So really not liking one out of 12 is pretty darned good.

I love Winky….he kisses my face, goes belly up for rubs, plays with me, and even let me treat the cut on his chin without any issues…(he fell down the stairs, only 3 steps, but landed hard…he was too excited)

If I could keep him, just like you, I would….I wish I could….

I pray that there is someone out there like you and me who can understand him the way we do – he is an awesome little man!!

Hi, I am the lady that Leia Cairns spoke to. I would love to meet Mr. Winky! I lost my baby, Lady, a Sheltie Spitz cross, 2-1/2 years ago after 13 wonderful years. I am now an empty nester, my children are adults and independent. I have a beautiful, rescued cat who came to me shortly after Lady passed. I love my cat, Annie, but I miss the affection and companionship of a dog. When I heard about Winky I got sooo excited! My phone number is xxx-xxx-xxxx I own my condo in a pet-friendly building (actually, it was our strat chairperson who has been looking for a dog for me!) I am really excited about him, please call me on Sunday, anytime after about 11:00 am (I will be up late tonight). I am serious about the dog, who will get a new name, probably (Prince) Charles, or Charlie, if it will fit with Winky’s personality. Please contact me!!!! Thanks so much!

I think Winky sounds terrific. I wish I didn’t already have 3 dogs. I love a little guy with spunk! I don’t know anybody right now for him but I’ll sure keep him in mind.

    xxoo Winky!

Cute little guy great teeth a sure sign he is not old jsut sensitive, congrates on being adopted Winky, I am going by what was put after your name on top of this page (blog). I have my old Scooter to deal with and would consider foster if he was fine with other dogs but as mentioned he is a bit on the negative side. This doesn’t really concern me but it might Scooter, old age has given him a heat condition so we try and take it easy for him. Cheers to all of you it’s so great having this in place.

I am still laughing after reading about dear mr winky. What a personality eh? I have a friend who adopted a crazed shitzu cross of some kind. He bit everyone in a frenzy, wasn’t picky, we called him little focker like in meet the fockers. Well little focker is much older now still living with the same family and has curved his greetings somewhat, but always got along with other pets. As soon as I saw Mr WInky’s pictures I thought of that family, the kids are now grown and gone and wondered if Mr winky might be their next love. Is there any way to send Mr winky’s pics and blurb in an email to her? They truley have hearts of gold and need to see Mr Winky.

    Hello all,
Going from the dates of the comments above, it appears as though Winky [aka prince charles] may already have found a new furever home, or is being fostered.
If that is not the case, I will happily talk to whomever I need to to learn about this little jitterbugs likes and dislikes; his dreams and desires, and see if I might not be the perfect match for him.
I have no other pets, so he could be lord and master!
I live alone and recently purchased a two bedroom apartment so I have lots of room, plus there is a lovely off leash area [not that I would!] only two blocks away. I have seen two other small dogs there but so far no big dogs.
Hope this finds you all well.

    Kim

I loved Mr Winkies story, I really want to get a small dog of my own. I grew up with 2 chihuahuas living at home with my parents. I am now on my own, and would love having a companion to love me back the way I loved my chihuahuas while growing up. They have so much love for you! Anyways, would love to hear back. I dont have alot of money to get a chihuahua for my own, but would love to be able to give the love one deserves, at a smaller price. I would definitly donate.
